Subsidies for e-bikes, cargo bikes and folding bikes

Updated: Jan 27

Various schemes are available to subsidise the purchase and lease of e-bikes, cargo bikes and folding bikes across Austria.

For example, holders of annual public transport Klimatickets can access the funding to buy a folding bike.

Note that there are restrictions. For example, buyers of e-bikes must prove that they use electricity from exclusively renewable energy sources.

This webpage (in German but your browser will translate it) provides a good summary of the application process: https://www.lease-a-bike.at/presse/e-bike-forderung-in-osterreich-deine-vorteile-i-lease-a-bike.

Note (27/1/2025) that it is unclear if further funding is available for 2025. 2024's funding closes in February 2025.
