In towns and cities property owners are responsible for clearing snow from pavements, footpaths and steps within 3 metres of their property between 6:00 and 22:00. Ice and snow must also be gritted.
If there is a road with no pavement a 1-metre wide path must be cleared and gritted.
Attention must also be paid to snow on roofs: areas below roofs should be suitably cordoned off or marked.
The obligation to clear snow can be delegated to a third party such as snow clearing business.
